Carmel Syrup

This is a really yummy carmel syrup recipe from Jacque.

1 cube butter
1/2 C. buttermilk (from store, or make by mixing 1 T. lemon juice into milk and let sit for a few minutes until it curdles)
2T. Karo Syrup
1C. Sugar

Bring to a boil and stir constantly for 3-4 minutes.  Remove from heat and add...

1 tsp. baking soda
1 T. vanilla

  1. I don't make this very often...but it is really yummy. I have made it and served to my extended family before! They all liked it too. I need to double check on the adding lemon juice to the milk with Jacque...that's the way I do buttermilk, but it's not on the recipe that way.

  2. So I asked Jacque about making buttermilk with the milk and lemon juice. She said she normally just buys buttermilk. But I'm pretty sure I made it myself when I did this (but it's been like a year, so I don't remember). I make buttermilk like this for other recipes, so I think it would work.
